I am looking for some tips regarding the "Back-Fill up" expanse around the perimeter of the puddle.
My puddle site required me to remove approx six" of soil effectually the back side of the pool and wrapping around to 0" on the front side.
Later on the puddle is ready, I will be faced with the decision of what to fill in between the pool and the 6" ledge of clay.
My first thought is to brace up the edge with a 1"10 6" greenish treated deck lath. So possible filling in the space around the pool with rock. Nonetheless, I am thinking 6" of rock is a waste.

Can I back-make full against the pool with sand, poly over the sand, so rock?

Sounds like y'all have a similar situation as I did, except mine was all the way around. I had used half dozen mil plastic under my pool before the liner and allow it over hang the pool perimeter about 12". And then when I backfilled I ran the plastic upward the side of the pool before the dirt/clay was backfilled to aid protect the walls and lesser rails. I and so went dorsum and trimmed the excess off only below the top of the mulch. Hope this helps

That sounds like a good idea. I know I have heard some people say that you shouldn't back-fill with dirt, merely I really don't like the idea of have decrotive rock six" deep. Information technology also saves me the expense of buying the 1"X6" green treat.

Well I couldn't see where it was gonna be a problem with mine. Make certain you don't backfill until yous have at least 1/2 the water in the puddle otherwise the weight/force per unit area from the dirt could cause the pool/walls to shift. Whatever questions just enquire.

I back filled with sand and placed used brick around. I originally had mulch but information technology all washed away and the local critters (squirrels and raccoons) kept digging in it. They don't mess with the bricks and my kids aren't tempted to throw them at each other similar they would with the rocks.

As Tim23 mentioned in his post, as far as doing the poly effectually the perimeter (under the sand and runway).
Does the sand tamp downwardly on the poly firm enough. I'1000 thinking that the sand would not pack downwardly well.

When nosotros originally did our last (current) pool we backfilled and put the decorative stone downward. Soon there were lilliputian bits of things growing between the rocks, the tree drop pollen polluted the spaces in between, information technology was a chore. With small animals in the yard and a shallow well, Roundup was out. We removed the rock and just backfilled the area with gravel and course sand. I can hands rake out the really tough stuff that wants to sprout there and the tree drop sits on peak of it to be brushed off easily instead of in betwixt rocks. It's not the fanciest backfill - merely plain but we accept a prissy scalloped landscape brick edging embedded about 3' out all the manner effectually and it looks very tidy.

As Tim23 mentioned in his mail, equally far as doing the poly around the perimeter (under the sand and rail).
Does the sand tamp downwards on the poly house enough. I'one thousand thinking that the sand would non pack down well.

Its true, the sand was a little more hard to tamp because it wanted to shift on the poly until we added enough sand. But as long as we had a good heavy two" or a little more of sand and it was wet down proficient nosotros didn't have a problem. We used the cream cove and backed it with sand. Merely like I said with the sand wet information technology smoothed out well and had no problems. Really we used 2 layers of six mil poly for strength. It was then strong that I felt safe that zippo could grow through the liner, or at least I hope not. We put a sparse layer of sand down on the globe before the poly and smoothed it out tamped it, and then put down the poly and and so the main sand earlier the liner. I think I have some pics if you would like to meet if I can notice them.

I backfilled mine with the clay. You take to be careful if you backfill with something that will shift. If you always have to replace the liner and empty the pool and y'all are backfilled with rock or sand might be at a college risk for a wall collapse.
